From Matilda

From Matilda is the solo project of Alex Kobylanski from Charlotte, NC who has been creating melodies for over 16 years. A self-taught musician doing his own production and audio engineering, he was inspired to write music by artists like Alexi Murdoch, Jack White, and John Butler. Drawing the most influence from Jack White, From Matilda's music exudes a similar raw and edgy vibe, characterized by powerful guitar riffs, infectious hooks, and emotive vocals.

Fueled by a dream of starting a band, From Matilda faced the challenge of finding bandmates who played different instruments. Undeterred, he embarked on a self-taught journey, mastering drums, bass, guitar, and vocals. 
In 2021, From Matilda released his debut EP, "Sway" showcasing the artist's ability to create beautiful and melancholic melodies while maintaining a powerful and energetic rock sound. Each track on the EP delves into the depths of beautiful sadness, exploring the complexities of human emotions through haunting melodies and evocative lyrics.

Currently, From Matilda is focused on remastering his original songs, working his way up to his most recent creations. While Alex’s career as a mechanical engineer keeps him grounded, his ultimate dream is to pursue music full-time, sharing his captivating sound and storytelling with a wider audience.
